Piedmont Blues! Boo Hanks and Tad Walters

A descendant of Abraham Lincoln on his mother's side, Boo Hanks is the greatest Piedmont Blues rediscovery in many years. He sings and plays guitar in the style of the legendary blind Boy Fuller. At the age of 79, he made his first recording and at 82 he has enjoyed performances around his home in Virgilina, VA, as well as Lincoln Center and Europe.

Love letters were once the fashion. Take a step back with Wendy and Allen Fuller as they bring to life A.R. Gurney's PULITZER PRIZER nominated play. The play centers on just two characters, Melissa Gardner and Andrew Makepeace Ladd lll. Using the epistolary form sometimes found in novels, they sit side by side at tables and read the notes, letters and cards- in which over nearly 50 years they discuss their hopes and dreams, ambitions and disappointments. Celebrating their own wedding anniversary, Wendy and Allen present this as a fund - raising gift to the Prizery.

With each voice possessing its own unique weight, timbre, shimmer, sound, each soprano's personality is captured in these unique musical arrangements.

The oldest operating theatre in American, Walnut Street Theatre will present its final performance of its North American tour of The Glass Menagerie by Tennessee Williams at The Prizery. The play is considered autobiographical as it recounts the lives of characters that hit close to home for Tennessee. Our performance will happen on the night of the 100th anniversary of his birth.
