South Boston and Leverano are Sister Cities
Leverano, Italy & South Boston, Virginia entered an agreement between the two towns on Monday, September 11, 2006. This "Sister Cities" relationship is in the interest of peace, cooperation and understanding. With this new relationship will be a collaboration in the fields of social, political, culture, education, trades, and tourism. In addition, the relationship will promote the exchange of official, public and private delegations, and students.
 Daniele Martina, International School Coordinator, Dina Calcagnile, Italian English teacher, Paul Stapleton, Superintendent of Halifax County Public Schools, Mario Zecca, Italian Army and Leverano Italy town council, Paul Nichols, Executive Director for Administration Halifax County Public School and Francesco Cuna, Italian Fresco Artist gather on the lawn at The Inn at Berry Hill during the International School Conference April 18 & 19.

The world becomes a lot smaller when you actually "know" people from another place far away. Having met many from Leverano we have quickly become friends. We will be exchanging our life experiences with theirs and theirs with ours. |

Here's a second grader from Leverano. She just received a valentine from one of the students from South of Dan Elementary School. The valentines were disbursed to all the student classes k – 5.

Francesco Cuna has an interest in ceramics and worked with the artisans of his village, Galatina in the Lecce province, and learned the traditional pottery techniques particular to that southern region of Italy.
He has just completed his fresco - Virginia 1607 - 2007 that can be seen on the first floor.
