Artists’ reception, exhibit and sale for the public on May 18, Sunday afternoon from 1-3 p.m.
“We are artists. It is what we do and who we are. It has always been our desire to unite people by depicting the bond of common experience that all share through the field of fine art painting. With a couple of bristles dipped in inspiration and a canvas overflowing with imagination we give the ability to depict infinite aspects of life. By aspects of life we mean the common every day struggles, joys, moments of love, mystery, and even people we encounter. With these painted depictions, we believe we can build bridges between people from all backgrounds and cultures. These paintings of poetic metaphor allow our common experiences and ideas to travel freely and speak to the purpose of our work in portraying the theme that we are not alone.”- Wyatt Ramsey
During the month of May you will have the chance to see and purchase the work of the artists Wyatt wrote of, featured at the Prizery in South Boston Virginia. It will be a display of work on the walls of the Prizery art gallery of a father and son, Phil and Wyatt Ramsey. Wyatt will be particularly presenting recent works of a restaurant series and also photography, and Phil will be offering a series of themes including jazz, wine, and nautical paintings.
They both have separate styles and approach. Yet each is heavily influenced by similar music while painting, such as jazz, the blues, and opera. For a great example of this check out their website at poeticstrokes.com and go the link ‘our inspiration’ and there you can view and hear the music of Andrea Bocelli and Chris Botti – a perfect fit as a backdrop of the feeling they wish to convey.
Phil Ramsey, professional artist for 16 years, is best known in the past for his murals in the Southern Virginia area, but he is now concentrating on oil paintings and portraits. Phil has received valuable mentoring from John de la Vega, national renowned portrait artist. His most recent portrait commission was of Virginia Tech benefactors, Garnette and P.T. Smith. Several portrait examples will be on display as well at the Prizery during May.
Wyatt is already building a long list of art collectors and still has several commissions to be completed. People seem to love his bold expressive strokes of color and heart felt moods. He eventually hopes to attend the Savannah School of Art and Design, yet for now with his bike, camera and easel he plans to do a stint in Charleston SC for a few months. His plans are to delve into the arts full time.
There will be an artists’ reception, exhibit and sale for the public on May 18 Sunday afternoon from 1-3 PM. Please mark your calendar for this event!
The Prizery is open Monday through Friday 9-5.
